Valentines Day

We had a great Valentines Day. Jessica and Will both had Valentine's parties at pre-school, and they had so much fun decorating cards for all their friends.

Will learned how to draw a smiley face, and he had to put one on every card -- some of the cards had two or three!! He also is getting better at writing a "W" for his name. Usually he draws about 10 lines going up and down while saying, "Down-Up-Down-Up" and then he continues drawing about 5 more down-ups before he's done. Now he draws three of the lines consecutively, and the fourth line separately. It works pretty well, and definitely an improvement.

Jessica was telling me all the people that she loved that she wanted to ask if they would be her Valentine. (It ended up being about her entire class!) When I picked her up from school this little boy named Davis said "Bye Jessica" in a very flirty way, and Jessica turned back and said, "Bye Davis" while swaying her hips and moving her shoulders. I looked at her with an inquisitive stare, and she turned bright red!! She then admitted that she had a secret to tell me, that she and Davis were in love. : ) Oh dear!!

Will and I decided to make chocolate-covered strawberries, and now they are our new favorite!! They were soooooo good! In fact, I just went back and got 3 more cartons of strawberries so that we can make more. (I guess it's my new weakness!)

My little troublemaker

Willbon is a such a typical boy!! He is into everything that's dirty, messy, gross, or not allowed. The following pictures I can post, because I was not home at the time (--good babysitting Honey!! J/K, I couldn't give Will a hard time because the kids do all sorts of things that they're not supposed to on my watch too!) Anyway, I came home to find Will, and all his blankets, pillows, toys, floor, wall, port-a-crib, and many other things, COVERED in powder!!

When I first walked in I thought there was a fire there was so much white smoke in the air. Come to find out it was just my dear sweet 3 year old! He said, "Look Mommy, Will a ghost!" I told him to stay put while I got my camera, and then he was going to help me clean up! I think the look on his face is precious. A little pouty, but hiding a little smile!! It just goes to show you that he wasn't trying to be bad, he just wanted to be a ghost.

Pinewood Derby

Our ward had a family Pinewood Derby Activity, and so we decided to make a car for Jessica and a car for Will to enter in the derby. Will's car had to be red, like Lightning McQueen, and Jessica's car had to be pink -- surprise surprise!

Will's car won the first race, and then was eliminated in the following race. He did not mind one bit though, because that meant that he could play with his car instead of giving it back to the judges.

Jessica's car was fast. She won the first two races by a landslide, and made it to the final round as one of 4 undefeated cars!!

However, her cute, sparkly pink car didn't quite hold up in the finals. She ended up being fourth place. She didn't seem to mind either. She told me, "That's OK Mom, I'll still get a ribbon!" However, later that night she cried a little bit because her car lost. We talked about how all the people that beat her were boys that were several years older than she was, and they had had lots of practice. She was content with that and we had a good opportunity to talk to her about how winning isn't everything, and we can't win all the time, and even though she didn't get first place that it was still a lot of fun. She said she can't wait 'till next time!
Next time we'll have to have Grandpa Jon, or Gramma Lynnie give us a few pointers on how to improve our cars!

crawling . . . good news and bad

Jonathan is officially crawling around everywhere. For awhile he could only scoot or make his way around backwards, but he has finally figured out how to crawl, and he loves it!

Jonathan gets upset when he gets left alone in a room, or somebody walks by him without picking him up or playing with him, but now, he can crawl after us if we try to leave him. It's kind of fun to put in him down in the living room, and then see him come crawling around the corner into the kitchen. HE always has a big grin when we spot him, or he'll often laugh out loud. I can tell he's so pleased with himself. However, the big problem is I have to make sure my floors are clean (all my floors!), and there are no stray papers or dirt or small toys that he can find. That is a challenge!!

Yesterday he also pulled himself up from sitting to standing using the edge of the tub.

Happy Birthday Jessica!

Ok, so it's been almost a month since Jessica's birthday, but I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures. We had a lot of fun at her party, her "mermaid-fairy-princess party". : ) I can't believe that she is 5 years old! The time has seemed to fly by.

We made a castle cake, and I think it turned out pretty cute. After spending so much time on it, I'm not sure why I don't just order a cake from Sams. : / Oh well. Jessica was happy, so that's what counts.
